my malasadas

My Friday night was making malasadas with my friends. It's a Portuguese donuts covered with sugar, some has fillings inside but I liked it plain. Frying was the best part, a little piece of dough expands while frying them. And they turn out this consistent golden color that makes you feel rewarding.

Because this was our first time making donuts, it took us about 5 hours to FINISH making them. This was suppose to be our "tea party", prepare the food(that I expected it'll take about maximum 2 hours) and have tea/coffee while we hang out. It turned out to be a giant project where we stayed up until 3am.

It was definitely fun though. But we had SO MANY donuts. We could actually serve 30 people and have giant tea party~

keep calm and carry on

I saw this at Chapters gift shop. I love the color, size and the slogen~ Inside the book has sleeve pocket to store anything pieces of papers.

I think I'll make this my next sketchbook~ But the papers are too nice for sketches... Any other idea?

There's other ones I like:

GET EXCITED AND MAKE THINGS

KEEP CALM AND CARRY CUPCAKE

my cupcakes

Sprinkles is one of my favorite store! I never tried their cupcake but I ADORE their designs!!! They have the design I like with simplsity shape with their sigiture dot!

While ago I got 2 Sprinkles cupcake mix as a gift. This is my first time baking cupcakes! I didn't have proper tools so it took so long to make! Expecially creaming the butter which by the way it's crazy how much you use butter in the cake AND icing!!!!
But it turned out great and delicious, I didn't paste that much icing on the cupcake becuase I'm not a huge icing fan so I put half of what Sprinkles put.

I'm not sure if this is a Japanese thing but try having chocolate related dessert with green tea. Best combination!!
Bitter green tea, the better!

how happy we were

Lot of Torontonian may know about this, but downtown Yonge St was PACKED.
Sir Charles and I were got on Bloor St. W from DVP heading to Spadina, road was clean until we get to Young St, was filled with people not just on the sidewalk...

While we had the green light, ready to drive pass Yonge, people gathered around in the middle of the intersection with cheers and hugs and cars stuck in traffic with cheerful honks. Our car was literally right in front of the gathering, stuck in the intersection. People around us were asking for high five.

Then the light turned red, people stepped out then the cab from other side were honking literally at us to move.
