IKEA Upcycle: Dining Table

Spent my weekend decorating my dining table with simple color change and upcycle what I already own.
Time to do some IKEA hacks!

With my new kitchen I had some theme to go bold with color on any metal furniture mixed with natural wood furniture:

IKEA Upcycle: Dining Table

Photo below was a IKEA dining table I owned 17 years ago at my old apartment I used to live in. I bought this table as temporary so someday when I own a house, I want to replace it with really nice wooden dining table that I would love forever.

But turns out after 17 years, I care about not wasting what I own and decided to just dress up my old dining table to how I like. So what I did was re-paint the table frame and replace the table top!

I used spray primer for extra hold and spray painted with a color I want:

Used these:
• Rust-Oleum: Painter's Touch
2X Interior/Exterior Ultra Cover Multi-Purpose Paint And Primer in Semi-Gloss White,
340g Spray Paint

• Behr: Premium
Interior/Exterior Aerosol Spray Paint and Primer
- Top Tomato -
Satin Finish, 340g

One spray can just BARELY covered so plan your priority where you need it sprayed!

The old white table top was made out of masonite with thick white paint where you can imagine it bubbles and cracks the paint as it ages and not at all good with water tolerance. But kept this table top for another future project!

After the kitchen renovation, I no longer need the wooden counter table(photo below and also from IKEA) and it's so hard to let go full wood tabletop as these are quite expensive now to purchase by itself.

so I re-purpose the wooden table top for my dining table and sold the bottom piece on Facebook Market.

And voila!
This is my new forever dining table!
I love this bold orange red table and it's matching with wooden table top so well.

Hello my new table!

Digital Ink 1

Tried new method that I never thought of all this time.

I didn't think of actually doing ink style in digital. There's billions of people doing this but I was too caught up on inking must be done with natural medium!

So here is my first attempt with ink style in digital of how I do in my sketchbook

Mirabel

I have some drawing I did from last year that I didn't bother to finish cuz I got lazy or moment has passed to complete it.

And it was just last year that I watched Encanto and wanted to do fanart of it. I got up to her face and torso done but I wasn't happy with the composition so I cropped it out and kept the area I was happy with(Which is usually just a face).

I enjoyed Mirabel character how crafty she was with her additional embroidery art she sewed on her clothes. There was so much detail on her skirt that you just don't have time to observe while watching the movie.

My New Phone

Here is my new phone!

Yes, I still use flip phone!
All my social media are done on desktop or home tablet.

Couple of days ago my old phone was acting up weird where it's not catching reception and the battery was  not charging properly anymore. I noticed I had it since 2014 so I thought it's time to switch it up.

And as usual, I like to decorate so I made crochet phone case and coil wrapped my charging cord!

My last phone(left: ZTE) was $89 and they still make something similar to it for same price but I upgraded a little to go for $112(peeking on the right: TCLFlip).

For crochet case, I went free style to try out new stitches that I never done before.

Any Pinterest lovers, I have my board here where I tried new stitches.

Darning Socks

I have a habit to try to make things lasts forever.

And socks are one of them. I have few socks that I got from Japan back in high school and til this day, I still wear them. Yes, there are few holes here and there but I still keep wearing them. It's hard to throw away something that's still functional when they're just small holes that shouldn't really bother you that much.

This is one of my examples of socks that I look forward to see how long it will last.

Darning socks

Like many enthusiast darners, I love to save scraps of embroidery threads, yarns, sewing thread to find re-purpose. It is an activity to do while you're watching TV or listening to something where you forget time.
